Google Map - pls help me

Hello all,

Well I got myself into a jam with trying to be a nice guy... Here is the story:

A friend is opening a new Hyundai dealership in Stouffville Ontario and I offered to help with some of the work load. Ive used Google maps plenty of times but don't know what has happened.

1) I submitted all of the company information and it took about 3 weeks to show up on Google Maps when you type "Stouffville Hyundai".

2) After being on "Maps" for a week or so he decided that he wants the phone number changed. I change the phone number for him, wait for the confirmation number from Google then "update". From that day forward no more listing on Google Maps. You can zoom into the town and find a little pink dot, hover over and it will say "stouffville hyundai" but nothing with the "A" beside the location then the link on the left.

3) The street is 67 Automall Blvd. The issue is Google does not recognize this street so I had to physically move the marker to the proper location. That had worked when I had first submitted the listing so I have kept that the same.

It has been 2 weeks and not the dealer is getting upset as he is not on Googe Maps for "Stouffville Hyundai". I've completed as much info as possible on their profile do not know where to turn.

His store opens July . 15 so his site www.stouffvillehyundai.ca is just a landing page. I don't expect it to turn up for neighbouring cites but it was there .... now its not

I use Google.ca . When I am on the Googe Hompage and then click "My Account" it automatically goes to Google.com. From this menu you can view your Analytics, gmail, docs, google alerts, and PLACE (the new local business center thing).

It give you the option of what country and I've even included that this dealer services up to 100km from its location. It is fine on the map

I added 3 more youtube videos and a few images to make my profile 100% complete. Don't know if that is holding it back as most of the dealers who come in the maps section of "Stouffville Hyundai' probably didn't even submit their listing or complete it.

This is NOT your fault. THis is going to be a grind it out challenge for you or anyone that takes this on. There's going to be a lot of tedious/detailed work to get this all to line up. You may wish to hand this off to a Local Specialist.

WIth that being said, here we go into the dark arts of Local Search...

It's a brand new biz. Start at ground zero. Make sure that the business records (the DBA and the address) match with what you're claiming is the location and name of the biz.

If they line up perfectly, GOOD, your task just got somewhat easier. If not... your pal may wish to file another DBA. If the Biz records DONOT match and your pal does not want to change his biz records, then it'll be up to you (or the local specialist) to create an aggressive campaign to post the new name and address in many authoritative places so it becomes the name. In the Local Search world, these are called "Citations".

Google is prepared for this scenario. (i.e.Mr Smith an Investor in a group owns ABC Apartment Properties, but, from the street we know it as The Brownstone Apartments). Biz records and relationships can get confusing. Anyway... Try to get the Biz records to line up.

Now, onto your site...Stouffville Hyundai in Ontario | Uxbridge, Markham, Aurora Hyundai

We need to make the NEW name and NEW address visible to the beast (Google). Take a look at: Stouffville Hyundai in Ontario | Uxbridge, Markham, Aurora Hyundai

The name and address is an image. Google cannot see that info and cant connect the two (google maps listing and Stouffville Hyundai in Ontario | Uxbridge, Markham, Aurora Hyundai)

Next, look at the the address you use for Stouffville Hyundai in Ontario | Uxbridge, Markham, Aurora Hyundai. Gulp. If there is one address in there that google recognizes and fits into your biz records, go for it.

Next, on to filling the net up with the new biz name and address...

Time to "get out the word".

List the business with Yahoo Local, Bing Local, Yelp Local, Best of the Web.

After that, go to the source of the river and attack the business listing providers (they resell your name to others).

Lastly,

Google.ca is not Google US. I assume that the .ca side has its unique twists. If your dealer wants a .ca specialist to handle it, PM me and I'll send you some names.
