DealerRater and JD Power Join Forces?

This is curious. A) From a consumer's point of view, why would one want to take the extra time to fill out the same review twice? B) Doesn't JD Power own the consumer's review if they are the one who's initiated contact with the consumer? If so, what is the value that DealerRater brings to...

Google Account Suspended for Bad Reviews???

Mike, I couldn't agree with you more. Bad business practice warrants bad customer reviews. However, this isn't the topic. The fact that Google, which has been almost 100% automated when it comes to individual Adwords accounts, would take a subjective view of peripheral websites that aren't...

Google Account Suspended for Bad Reviews???

The BBB has given them an F rating. It's not about one complaint or even two. And resolving Ripoffreport.com is an impossibility. They can't spend any money with Google until someone over there has subjectively deemed them worthy. Google is absurd...for a lack of a more inappropriate term.

Google Account Suspended for Bad Reviews???

Hi all. Long time no post, but in 16 years of working with Google (oh the joy), I was shocked at what I found this week. A prospect of ours had his Google Adwords campaign shut off due to bad reviews on RipoffReport.com and a bad rating on BBB. THIRD PARTY WEBSITES!?! Meanwhile, their...

    Review Management Stress Test

Ryan, good post! If you were to give percentages to the top 4 or 5 review sites for dealers to send their customers to, what would that breakdown look like? I would assume DealerRater to be in the mix? Thanks!

Is Google doing local retailers a favor with Google+ Local? Not Likely

Ed, I agree about Google's customer service. So don't you think Google would be better of leaving the data normalization to one or two partners ;) I'm blown away about the news of the Paid Inclusion model. This is going back 12 years to a model that didn't work with other engines (Inktomi...

Is Google doing local retailers a favor with Google+ Local? Not Likely

Joe, Not to sidetrack this post, but aren't all Google Product searches pulling data from feeds submitted through Google Merchant Center (formerly Google Base)? I BELIEVE the reason there are no relevant vehicle-specific results is because the Merchant Center focuses heavily on products which...

ONLINE newspaper marketing vs GOOGLE PPC vs NEWS Website

Not sure I followed that, but Google doesn't just hand you a good QS score. It takes know-how and time. I'm not a fan of buying on a CPM basis, but theoretically if he gets a 1% CTR on his newspaper ad, he's got an effective $2.00 Cost Per Click. Compare that to Google - and based on the...

ONLINE newspaper marketing vs GOOGLE PPC vs NEWS Website

It would be ideal if you could carve out $1,400. Give $700 directly to Google Adwords where you pay for clicks only and the impressions are free. Give $700 to your newspaper site and measure the Click Through Rate (CTR). See which one yields the cheapest clicks. My bet is on Google, but...

What does an SEO sales pitch look like?

Ahh....a pitch inside a post about pitches. Interesting. Alex?

What does an SEO sales pitch look like?

Here's another one that came today. This one is even better because they provided our dealer with an "SEO report card". They mention a 65 character max in the title. Not only is ours below 65 characters, but their own website has 134 characters in their title. What's funny is that this...

What does an SEO sales pitch look like?

I'm sure I don't have to tell this to most of the dealers out there, but the topic needs attention. We get these types of emails from our dealers almost daily, and they seem to be increasing in numbers. Most of these are as ridiculous as they are dangerous. Many dealers shrug these off, but...

    V12 Software for independant

Yago, I'm going to respectfully disagree my friend. I don't expect an independent to pay thousands per month for his site, but any dealer who isn't prepared to take their website (or any piece of their online marketing) seriously, then they are not ready to compete in today's market....and I...

    V12 Software for independant

That quite a statement. So all websites have the same inventory integration, same level of customization, same performance metrics, same SEO structure, same design capabilities, same conversion metrics, same user experience and same level of customer support? And they are all worth less than...

Is your SEO company helping or hurting?

Short term SEO is an oxymoron. Good article, Kyle.

Is your SEO company helping or hurting?

Google has apparently been sending out warnings to websites through their Webmaster tools account warning them of "unnatural link patterns". Google has been after artificial link building (link farms, link rentals, link exchanges) for quite a while now, but it is unprecedented for them to...

    Ecarlist...anyone use them? Thoughts? Opinions?

Joseph, this is an unfortunate post. eCarList has had a 4-year long-standing relationship with the Ewing Automotive Group. They were one of our first custom website designs - in fact the MB website was our award-winning showcase. I live around the corner from the store, we have had a...

    Multiple Website Vendors

Ha. I suppose I should do my research. Sorry Jon. This waiter will be sure to talk to the chef for you and find out what the problem is. If it's a video feed issue to 3rd parties, and they are homemade videos - that's not in our repertoire. I'll talk to your rep and reach out with a...

    Multiple Website Vendors

Like, to a duel? Sorry for the sarcasm, but that's like having to kick my waiter in the shin to get a refill on my tea.
