Turnover- and that one dirty word we never say!!!

So, here is a little update. I just found out our pack here at this dealership just increased to 1900 from 1710. No disclosure has been made to the salespeople, and no one has figured it out yet other than the managers who have access to itemized cost in accounting. I'm worried about a...

    Online Shopping to Online Buying

What is the hang up to the process? Where is the hesitation? If you watch the video on beepi's homepage, one of the main reassurances is the "vehicle inspection process" and the no hassle money back guarantee. Which seems designed to pre-emptively handle peoples fears of buying a used car...

    Online Shopping to Online Buying

About 3 years ago I tried to streamline an online sales process for customers to select, negotiate, finance and trade, and ultimately purchase a vehicle without ever stepping foot in the dealership. Even though it didn't work out, remnants of the process remain in one form or another on our...

I love what I do, but it is so f-ing stressful.

I work in a store that has been trending up for years, but we had some scatter brained management turnover mid last year, and we've been trending down every since. I stumbled on this thread today, and it re-affirmed a core belief of mine. Joe Pistell is a saint and a genius. Just kidding Joe...

Vinsolutions problems with CRM and website

if it were me, I would call support and have them check the feed to verify they are receiving pricing while I'm on the phone with them. Then I would a) 3 way in the feed provider if the pricing is missing or b) have the tech check the primary price/secondary price structure in settings. At my...

Turnover- and that one dirty word we never say!!!

The practice of packing vehicles isn't the problem, its the way its done. In a velocity market, smaller front end grosses lead to consistently stable margins. With average per copies around 1700-2200 at velocity stores, isn't it a little disingenuous to simultaneously bemoan the dearth of "good...

Turnover- and that one dirty word we never say!!!

I'm curious what thoughts are so I'm posting this in off topic. While dealership turnover has increased, and many dealers find salespeople in short supply- is anyone brave enough to look in the mirror and say "pack"? I'm just curious so I'll give you an example. Let's say dealership A averages...

Why Yelp should Seriously Eat S*^&% and Die

I'm thinking about attempting a similar experiment. Did you post the reviews from your home, or from work? I'm just thinking about IP addresses.

How to add OEM like "Build your car" to website.

I sell CDJR in a small town, smaller Midwest market, and we have 6 stores all around us within a 45 minute drive in any direction. We have a similar problem. Allocation is fine, but when we call off our Cross Sell reports, the number one reason people drove 45 minutes to purchase instead of...

    Its Roadshow Season!!!!

We do have a fixed process for signing customer in which they are not involved at all, including a very structured "we owe" interview. Yea greed is a powerful thing. Can't imagine doing one of these sales where they bring in finance personnel and set up an additional business office.

    Its Roadshow Season!!!!

I'm sitting in my office right now with aging inventory, trying to convince a crew of roadshow guys not to touch the fresh 2012 Grand Caravans until they sell the 62 day old one in stock that is already reconned, with my pricing offline. So, yup.

Who is in charge at your dealership?

I have three salespeople in a lead round robin at my store. Have said multiple times that if the performance isn't there, the leads should turn off. IE, the contact rate, appointment rate, etc has to be consistent with clearly explained and understood reasonable benchmarks. Something as simple...

    Its Roadshow Season!!!!

If MY store brings in a staffed event company. Sales managers, sales people, the mail saying "YOU ARE A WINNER" in big screaming letters, and $1.00 down, $99.00 a month in big red letters with lots of fine print! I get what you are saying about the level of quality the staffed event needs to...

    Its Roadshow Season!!!!

The ides of February are upon us, and all through the midwest, roadshow guys are traveling America to help good, honest, red blooded citizens get some lower payments! Anyone have any thoughts on standard staffed events and how it effects traffic longterm and short for stores that rely heavily on...

Not sure where to ask this (test drive question)

I don't know that there is a bona fide 100% all the time answer to your question, but the number one thing I do on a test drive to turn a shopper into a buyer is give them numbers. That always starts the conversation, and it also allows me to find out if I'm on the right car or if I need a lower...

    Dealer Rater Question

I'm an IT manager/ admin/salesperson at a smaller store, and I have very mixed feelings about this feature. I have a boneheaded dealership culture, so sometimes people say and do things to customers (not mine) that I don't approve of, and that leads to reviews that I am responsible for...

    Dear Vendors: What's the Goal?

The biggest question that I ask consistently in during sales pitches is "How." That question stumps a large number of vendors. I want to know how the cogs turn, that way I can evaluate for myself whether the product or service works the way a vendor says it should. I've had several vendors make...

    "TRUE" Closing Ratio?

He says phone calls are not Internet at all. We don't include incoming phone traffic in our lead count. We have 205 leads this month, and 19 sales. How does that stack up with no phone sales or leads thrown in?

    "TRUE" Closing Ratio?

Oh, I forgot to include his reasoning. He says that 100% of Credit apps and trade appraisals are solicited by salespeople to unlogged customers. I may be stating it badly, but he seemed very sure of himself.

    "TRUE" Closing Ratio?

So, I've spent a lot of time on here in the last 2 years honing my skills as an Internet "Director" (glorifyed salesperson/lot attendant/ resident IT guy.) I've seen a lot of threads about numerous aspects of reporting, and accurate reporting data. The general consensus is that there is no...
