Hey Refreshers. We're working with Carfeine to get a strong mix of 99 US dealers (checking on Canada as well) to be the beta users of SideKick, an adaptive retargeting widget. No obligation at all. Free for the rest of 2014. No requirement to continue on January 1 or ever pay a penny if you don't like it. Chances are, you'll love it.

First and foremost, I'll diffuse the confusion surrounding what SideKick is:

  • It's a website widget. No need to change websites or anything. It plugs in.
  • "Adaptive" is not like having an adaptive website. With SideKick, it adapts based upon visitor data.
  • "Retargeting" in this instance is not the standard retargeting PPC that most dealers know. The retargeting for SideKick happens on your website itself.

With that out of the way, here are the details. When consumers visit a website with the SideKick widget, any shopping history that has been accumulated from sites like AutoTrader or other dealer websites tells us what vehicles they're most likely researching. The data comes from both Dataium and Carfeine sources.

The SideKick widget takes the data and serves the vehicles that they likely want to see from your inventory. It basically takes them straight from landing on your site directly to the VDPs of vehicles that match their surfing history on other sites.

The interface does not interfere with your current website configuration. When your visitors click on it, they remain on the page they're on. It deploys on the side. To see how the interface works, go to the Carfeine website and click the buttons on the right to see the slide.

That's pretty much it. It's launching for sale next quarter but those who help with the beta to prove out the concept will be rewarded with having the service at no charge until December 31, 2014, and an option to continue at a discount starting January 1, 2015. Again, no risk. We're looking for savvy dealers that want to take advantage of (buzzword alert) "big data," which is why we're posting this on Dealer Refresh before any of the other forums. You are the target audience, my savvy friends.

Here's the landing page if you'd like to apply. Don't be discouraged if you're not accepted. We're looking for a mix. Different areas, different OEMs, different sizes, and different website providers.

This really is one of those "no strings attached" offers.

JD, seeing what you are building has been a breath of fresh air! I can't wait to see as the information starts to come out on retention and close rates. It looks like it could be a strong tool given the right inventory and dealer actions.

given the right inventory and dealer actions.

Wow. You nailed it. Yes, it works best with the right inventory. That doesn't mean that the inventory has to be huge, but if you have inventory that your customers want, the widget will work wonders. As far as dealer actions, I would say the majority of Refreshers are in good shape with their processes but any lead generating tool is worthless if the sales department isn't handling them properly.

Thanks for the kind words, Kelly Sue. This is going to be a fun!
