Hello Dealer Refresh!

I am sorry if this is a very noob question, but do you guys know if car companies have a free database they allow people to use for social media or do you just have to take them yourself? I am wanting to photoshop some photos, but I don't want to infringe on anything that might get my dealership in trouble. They are a bit behind on media, and while I have experience in helping social media for a business I had a database of photos to use at my previous job. Just want to make sure I am not breaking any copyright laws, as most of the free pics I have found on generic websites aren't that great for vehicles.

  2. https://www.pexels.com -> https://www.pexels.com/photo-license
    1. It's hard to understand complex licenses that is why all photos on Pexels are licensed under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. This means the pictures are completely free to be used for any legal purpose.
    2. The pictures are free for personal and even for commercial use.
    3. You can modify, copy and distribute the photos.
    4. All without asking for permission or setting a link to the source. So, attribution is not required.
IMO, the OEMs tend not to care (haven't seen any dealer or dealer agency busted) for the use of new makes and models, but their names, logos, and body designs are all trademarked and cannot be used in any capacity outside those explicitly allowed by trademark law. And expect to be completely incapable of acquiring those licenses for reasonable terms, as the licenses are generally very expensive and come with a mile long list of stipulations.
