Messenger.com is FB's chat platform. With a simple link (https://m.me/YourFBUserNameHere), shoppers can initiate chat.

This could be a possible (and legally safer) alternative to texting.

Has anyone been working with FB messenger to chat with shoppers?

Can it be too personal?
Is it safer? (don't have to give out a phone number)

I'm wondering if it would open up a new prefered communication channel to those who are on desktop and don't want to text.

Thoughts?

I've given it a brief try and started building chatbots. I think it's going to be a bigger piece of communication because it's seamless and doesn't necessarily require a phone number or email.

I know of a store that is not part of my group created a really dope chatbot. I've been using it as reference: https://www.facebook.com/EdMartinNissan/

They made it more fluid and personalized which I thought gave it a more authentic touch while deflecting that it isn't a real person with a fun widget. I really believe that chatbots are going to be a huge part of the process in the future because it enables you to handle many requests without necessarily having a large bdc

Intercom is an awesome chat plugin that I keep encountering on newer sites. I have yet to see anyone in automotive implement Intercom, but it is a whole lot easier to use and less intrusive than most of the dealer website chat tools today.

Facebook Messenger is a very well built tool, and they launched a business-focused tool last year, but a lot of people are wary of Facebook reaching into other industries in light of their recent user data issues.
