TrueCar sued by dealers

Reading through this thread had me laughing but also seeing the frustration players like TrueCar have caused at the Dealership level. They do in fact have data feeds that give them information on regional car sales. This is nothing new though to the dealership. Handling customers who come in with their Carfax, KBB and an assortment of other paperwork and demands is just part of being sales professionals. It will be interesting though to see how TrueCar handles something that Dealers regularly get accused of.

TrueCar wins, but fights on Company prevails for now in 4 of 5 legal actions filed in 2015

Four of the five lawsuits filed against it this year have been dismissed or withdrawn.

"At the end of the day, we invest a lot of time, money and effort into our regulatory compliance and compliance with all laws," Johnny Stephenson, TrueCar's chief risk officer, told Automotive News. "Obviously it is of great importance to us because we are deeply committed to operating lawfully. Winning these lawsuits is a reflection of that."

"One is the suit brought by the California New Car Dealers Association in May, accusing TrueCar of acting as an unregulated and unlicensed broker. A judge dismissed the suit on Dec. 7 but gave the association 20 days to amend its claim and refile."
