I have a unique background that has allowed me to intersect my three passions of automotive, marketing, and technology.
- How did you find us?:
At the age of 13 my family got into the car dealership business by opening a few small buy-here-pay-here car dealerships in the Mid-Michigan area. This gave me the opportunity to make my first foray into the automotive space in 2003 by creating a dealership group website ahead of its time with inventory photos, lead forms, credit application, and why buy messaging.
The entrepreneurial spirit of my family inspired me to embark on my own self-funded ventures throughout my middle school and high school years. I became one of eBay’s youngest PowerSellers by purchasing off-lease computers in bulk then repairing, refurbishing, and subsequently selling on eBay.
My later years of high school I became very involved with a marketing organization and competition called DECA. I formulated a business plan for a technology company and placed 1st place in the nation with my idea. Winning this competition propelled my decision to sell my car and use the proceeds to bootstrap this company in real life. I opened my first retail storefront the day I graduated high school and grew it to 3 retail locations with over $750,000 in sales at the age of 18.
After hearing of my business success at a young age during the 2008 recession, an organization sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce reached out to have me tour the country and share my entrepreneurial story with thousands of college students across the country. This led me to being awarded a Top 30 Entrepreneur Under 30 at The White House by President Obama’s administration.
My company was acquired in 2011 and I decided to attend college for an automotive marketing and management bachelor of business degree at Northwood University. Northwood requires students to have an automotive internship at a non-familial business so in the summer of 2011 I started a internship at RightWay Automotive Credit, a chain of used car dealerships under the Garber Automotive Group umbrella.
During my summer internship at RightWay, I brought them into the digital marketing world by creating a custom website that generated 2,500 website leads per month while running in-house Google Adwords campaigns to drive relevant traffic to the website. My initial success led RightWay to want to keep me past my initial internship.
Over the next couple years at RightWay, I launched countless successful digital marketing campaigns and website improvements that continued to drive more leads and most importantly, sales. This success caught the attention of RightWay’s corporate parent, Garber Automotive Group, and in 2014 I moved over to handle the digital marketing department for the entire organization.
At Garber Automotive Group, I have built an in-house digital marketing agency team comprised of 11 talented individuals. We handle all of our 49 dealerships’ SEO, paid search, display advertising, social advertising, social media, reputation management, graphic design, and video production in-house. This has led us to both decrease expense while boosting performance. We continue to push the envelope and try our best to be on the cutting edge of the automotive space.
