Tesla Reality Check?

I guess the question is... are they going to stick around to see what they're trying to do? Maybe they just focus their efforts IN China and produce them all IN China, considering the EV market there...?

Tesla's losses suggest it may not live to see the world that it created
Tesla helped create a brave new all-electric world, but after reporting a huge loss, will it survive for long enough to take advantage?

I know I saw somewhere that they're sitting on 10K cars that need repaints due to defects on first paint job - positive about that but can't find it at the moment.

A little off-topic (maybe), but last night I watched this documentary on Elizabeth Holmes: The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley.

It’s hard to not see parallels... particularly with the relationship between “personality” attracting money (but not earning money), and perhaps even the “fake it ‘till you make it” mentality. Amazing how money seems to gravitate toward these people.

Yes, what a total crock of shit that was, she's going to end up in the Graybar Hotel. "Hey lookie everyone, a female entrepreneur and she can make things better for all mankind!" Meanwhile, it was all lies.

It's like a combination of Perceived Value (https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/perceived-value.asp) and The Dunning Kruger effect (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning–Kruger_effect). Almost, an arrogance factor believing that a product purchase or support for a "progressive" product puts you in a higher rank or class.

Oops a wrongful death lawsuit?

Autopilot was active when a Tesla crashed into a truck, killing driver – Ars Technica
https://arstechnica.com/cars/2019/05/feds-autopilot-was-active-during-deadly-march-tesla-crash/

"Preliminary data show that the Tesla's Autopilot system... was active at the time of the crash," the NTSB reports. "The driver engaged the Autopilot about 10 seconds before the collision. From less than 8 seconds before the crash to the time of impact, the vehicle did not detect the driver's hands on the steering wheel."

Amazing what a "leaked" email can do. My gut feeling is there's some temporary bad news Tesla, but the really bad news hasn't hit the rest of the automotive sector yet. I think the stock is going to recover later this summer. Need to see the China sales numbers.
