    Dynamic vehicle comments

I have made it a goal this year to engage in custom, dynamic comments for each used car. While it does save time to paste generic jibberyjoo with the features in the comments field, we want to experiment with this for SEO purposes for our classifieds as well.

January 5th in video games: Darksiders vs. Bayonetta

Bayonetta is badass. It still doesn't beat Ninja Gaiden 2 though :D

    Inventory Manager

eBiz was good, except they tried charging us $150 to paste two lines of text on our homepage. When we asked why they said because it costs $75 an hour and it will take them two hours to copy, paste, save, upload to ftp, and overwrite. Now we're on TK and have the ability to change our...

Top Dealer CRM/ILM Concerns for 2010?

Sell the car.'literally' /edit But seriously, integrate social media communication. Set an email notification to forward to a CRM user an incoming tweet, or facebook comment, or car dealer review, or integrate with live chat services. That would be kickass.

I'm not a PC - joined the darkside!

Our BDC and I use Ubuntu, believe it or not. Since we are technically on this route of "cloud computing," Ubuntu is something that can be used on certain machines at dealerships that are made for that specific purpose (lead management, browsing website, email blasting, data entry, etc). I run...

Anyone try video games to get customers in the door?

@KoreyB Most definitely! Check it out. It's actually not a bad idea, but it might be cheaper to just invest in the Wii and a Rock Band set :D NorthCoast Custom Arcades - Your one stop arcade cabinet building and arcade games resource

    Time for a new smartphone

My Pre was awful. Dropped calls up the ass, terrible app store, and the keyboard isnt email-friendly. Being a Linux fanboy I was very disappointed, and went back to the iPhone 3Gs.

Anyone try video games to get customers in the door?

Also, I've been thinking of building a MAME Arcade Cabinet, and loading a ton of arcade roms into the cabinet to place in our showroom while customers wait, or when their kids are bored, etc. However, id kind of be there all the time.

Anyone try video games to get customers in the door?

A coworker and I went to the Evolution 2009 competition in Las Vegas over the summer (not expecting to talk business). A lot of players competing came from Southern California, including players that live down the street from our dealership. Since it's kind of hard to sell a gamer a car at a...

Does Autotrader think we're all oblivious?

I work for a dealership that is constantly faced with these "solutions" by ATC reps. Everytime traffic is slow, "but look at the exposure!", every other ad bombarded on our details page for a dealership 50 miles away is always countered by "buying more spotlights!" I'm no flunky;)

Does Autotrader think we're all oblivious?

"..I'll look into the issue, but you should purchase two more spotlight ads to counter your competitors' tower, side, and bottom ads." "EMP is a great program. See this dealer who sells junk cars? Look at ALLLLLL their phone pops!"

How many 3rd Party Lead Providers do you use?

Autotrader, where you have to pay double to see results (that is if the shopper doesnt click on the 50 banner ads on your page).

Do you take your own photos?

We always take our own photos. Because of our very sunny location, I use Photoshop to balance lighting levels, color, and add a watermark. When I wasn't using Photoshop, I was correcting photos with Picasa, and resizing/watermarking them with FastStone Image Viewer. Batch feature = :-) I...

Getting fresh start on social networking.. or hold it off until

We do, just no information about "100% Guaranteed Credit Approval!" except in our title page (because thats pretty much all we can experiment with). e*iz*ut*s wants $$$$ to paste four lines of text on an existing page. It's going to take 90 days to switch over to the new guys, and the new site...

Getting fresh start on social networking.. or hold it off until

..our website is complete. I am using social networking in two forms; relations with our demographic, and to advertise our dealership's specialties (100% guaranteed credit approval, low prices, etc). The thing is, we are dropping our third party and signing up for TK Carsites. We do not have any...

    Low Cost Live Chat Software

Thanks for the heads up, Joe. It's not necessarily low cost that got me thinking open-source. I am a Linux user, and I've found many substitutions to commercial software. The thought was to check out Digsby, because it does help with multiple social networking accounts.. but that chat feature...
