I'm also confused -- is this a self insurance product? Are you wholesaling through warranty companies? But I agree, these are products that are important to gross profit. If it's a peer to peer buying site I can see this being a model that works but tough sell to dealers IMO.

Yea, ideas are cheap. Not about who thought of it but who did it.

EVs are coming, but for how long?

I saw Tesla dropped the lease price on the Model 3 to $299/mo. With the extra $99/mo for full-self drive, there's nobody that can compete with that. Which is an interesting model. Car companies rely on parts and service, while Tesla will sell software subscriptions (FSD, Premium Connectivity)...

Is there a good Sell My Car tool for my website?

I think the tool is good, but I'm not sure how comfortable dealers are giving cash offers on vehicles they may or may not want to acquire. Maybe there's some fine print on CarMax's site about this, but CarMax will take anything. The tool itself, though, isn't very difficult to build.

    No, dealer website prototype.

Got some projects off my plate recently and getting ready to tackle the big one. It's called Dealer Commerce. I built a prototype platform years back but never did anything with it. Will be a fun creative outlet, though, and we'll see what comes of it!

PR & News Tesla Cybertruck sells for $244,000 at used-car auction

Just rode in the Cybertruck yesterday. One of the dads at my kids school works for Tesla and has the first one in Chicago. I wouldn't pay $100k for one, but I've got to say product and engineering wise - it's really cool. The steer by wire is pretty cool, I didn't drive it, but seeing the truck...

    Uncle Joe's Makeover Diary 2.0

Funny thing - I built a site for this that's a work in progress. But I made it for myself to get a better idea of my out the door price when buying a car or snowmobile. It's called Car Payment Pal (Car Payment Pal - Realistic Auto Payment Calculator, Auto Loan and Lease Deals). I'll have a...

Yea great point. Most of the time, it's never one thing. I'm the type of buyer that could go from a Lexus ES300h (reliability, no frills interior, 40+mpg, good resale) to a Silverado 1500 (good depreciation, bad on gas, but useful to have and roads by me are terrible), to a Tesla Model S (sexy...

Yea I think it's a more direct path so I'd assume it would convert better and boost engagement metrics. Plus the promotion hero graphics that are on the homepage, those will become more relevant on the store pages as well. So those are some of the things I've been thinking about when I say...

    Websites

Yes. But rather than just listing cars it will list a mix of graphics, inventory categories, promotions, etc. Completely different than any dealer SRP today. I want it to present itself more like a store.
  14. Chris Cachor

    Websites

Yes. Homepage is essentially an SRP, but with categories, promotion banners, and other graphics to help sell the dealership. A lot of the homepages today still follow the old school SEO filler text pattern. So eliminating that, taking them right into the "store".

@Todd Thompson working on a prototype for SRP page concept and looking for some feedback. If anyone has thoughts or contributions please chime in! The concept I'm working on basically takes the existing navigation structure of dealer sites and eliminates the cruft. So, rather than going to...

Do Customers Really Want Electric Vehicles?

I really beg to differ. I want an EV, but I don't want a current generation EV. Right now, the battery technology requires the battery temperature to operate within a required range. And the electrolyte is flammable. Next generation batteries won't have this problem and the energy density will...

Don't forget about ElasticSearch ;) This is what I'll be using to put together a demo. ElasticSearch w/vectors. Algolia is a great off the shelf option. I'll post a demo in the next day or two that will: 1. Enter your dealer website URL 2. Crawl max 100 pages of inventory 3. Generate a SRP...

@BillKVMotorCo funny you mention this but I'll be sharing a new concept and building out in the open soon. The goals: 1. Better search and merchandising 2. "Bridged Commerce" - an effort to streamline the online to offline buying process 3. Modern Personalization / Recommendations 4. More...

#RefreshFriday Merchandizing - Someone is Launching a new Service | Joe Pistell

Logo 2 for me. Logo 1 I think might cause some confusion with iMagic Labs. Feel like the font used in #2 distinguishes remembering the brand more.
