    Video Pre-Roll stats

I haven't posted in a while, but I have been on both sides of the desk. Right now I happen to be on the vendor side. Our company does sell pre-roll (not a pitch at all). It absolutely is not a lead provider or even a click-thru product. If I am waiting to watch a video on the election or...

    need to vent

I feel your pain. I agree that it might be useful to write a business and take it to the owner and GM. With that being said, there are still a lot of dealerships that just don't buy in. That's why you see the talented people either end up with a dealer that does buy in or they end up on the...

Prices on website... yes or no?

It has been said by the last few posts, but you have to put prices on your vehicles. I've heard the argument over and over that "if I don't put prices on the cars, then people will have to call me, so I will get more leads!" The few calls you may get with this tactic don't outweigh the # of...

Why it is impossible to cancel AutoTrader

Haha! That's one way to avoid cancellations and help out the churn %.

Looking for new website vendor. How does DealerOn stack up?

When I was still at the dealership, I used Dealer.com as well and never had a problem. There are advantages and disadvantages to working with a company the size of Dealer.com. What has impressed me is they have hired some very good talent over the last few years who are going to really push...

    NADA 2013

Jerry, that looks great! Good luck, you will definitely catch some attention with that booth. I will actually be there for a few days before NADA for some training and a dealer event Friday night.

Rookie ISM in need of a little advice

I would be happy to give you some advice. I built an internet sales department for a dealer group (just left) and probably went through a lot of the same struggles you went through. Can you PM me your dealership if you don't want to put it out there? However, I can tell you that there are...

    Texting for After Hours

I think it might gain some traction, though I haven't tried it. My only concern would be, if a customer texts you, are they expecting a response faster than if they email in their information. If they text at 10 p.m., is the dealership properly set up to respond to it?

    Should We Drop AutoTrader?

Absolutely. I have pushed our group very hard to stop classifying our advertising as traditional vs. internet and start looking at our advertising as branding vs. lead generating. Dealix is lead generator for us. Banners, remarketing, etc. though on the internet, are branding ad sources.

    Should We Drop AutoTrader?

Completely agree with Joe here. Most shoppers are using multiple sources before finally making a decision. I just bought a new TV and I used Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, Sears, Walmart, and a few other sources before making my final decision. Everyone one of these sites contributed to my final...

    SEO company concerns

Yago is spot on with this, couldn't agree more. I have 2 Cobalt GM sites and I know what he is going through. I asked them to improve the SEO on a couple of search terms (in my local area) and I was told they were already focusing on other areas off SEO. If you are paying them, then they...

    SEO company concerns

Are you not happy with your current website provider's SEO? I don't have a VW franchise, so I am not familiar with any site requirements. Is the agreement month to month or is it for a longer period?

"Don't be annoyed with us, Mr. Dealer, you're IN queue!!!"

Agreed...If I am having continued problems with a vendor, I look for a replacement. As soon as I have one in place, the cancellation call/letter is made.

    GM Reputation Management "Required"

Re: GM Rep Management "Required" I have one of our General Manager's stating this is optional and can opt-out and another that says it is 100% required? Can anyone clarify?

"Don't be annoyed with us, Mr. Dealer, you're IN queue!!!"

That is absolutely not acceptable from a vendor. Is this a vendor you are required to use? If not, I would start shopping my business. Whenever I am looking for possible vendors, I always ask how the support system is set up-dedicated rep, send an email to support, etc?. I would let the...

    BDC Manager/Internet Director Payplan inquiry

I agree with Alex here. Do you have a BDC following up on leads and setting appointments or do you have cradle to grave Internet Sales Consultants? How you are paid should be a reflection of how your dept. is set up. I am surprised the GM is handling the website maintenance and rep mgmt., I...

Anyone Using Deal Activater, AutoAlert, etc.??

We use ADP CRM and I messed around in the Campaign Manager forever trying to figure out a way we could do it-there just isn't a away currently. There is no reason every CRM shouldn't be capable of effectively allowing you to do equity mining.
