    Online Shopping to Online Buying

Wow this thread just blew up, lots of excitement around this. Buying 100% online is not even close IMO. Some OEM's already are going with a hybrid online purchase/convenience system (digital retailing) very soon. It's the start of giving more choices to shoppers, like @jscole86 covered, and I...

Text Us message conversion from Website and VDP?

Ooh! I'm always thinking about this, from all angles. It's not a granular thing for sure, I've went down that road and got frustrated. For me, with shoppers, it's about a visit to the website that provides all the answers to their questions about the vehicle and the buying process, and then...

Cars.com BIG DROP since new design?

Yes, that's a total anomaly, I think it's a few things with shoppers; it's about trust, not really knowing market pricing (what's good or bad deal?), knowing the inventory rapidly changes, or actually how these car shopping sites work. When I've asked customers (friends, family, etc) about why...

Cars.com BIG DROP since new design?

I've been looking at this too pretty hard, and I can't seem to identify a traffic drop or trends from my stores with cars.com traffic to the website. I did notice that the way my in-house analytics is tracking cars.com referrals has changed, and it appeared as though traffic just stopped around...

Stockwave from Manhiem - Anyone using it?

I don't think it's available yet, debut is NADA, launch will be shortly after or mid-2016 from what I hear. Sounds very interesting, like a dynamic parameter sourcing engine to provide a list of vehicles to re-stock your dealership inventory.

Use Pavlok SHOCK THERAPY to sell more cars!

Shut up and take my money! Do they make collars? Can it be remotely controlled?

Text Us message conversion from Website and VDP?

You're right on Joe. When I hear the words "internet lead" anymore, it just makes me tired, I want to move on. Add "conversion" to the end of those words, and I want to throw up from frustrations. The tools we have to communicate with shoppers do not generate leads, only vehicles do. An...

TrueCar names AutoTrader veteran Chip Perry as CEO

My guess is they will move into more of a outside sales rep model and establish business relationships with their dealer and OEM network. While also developing more feature upgrades and package bundles to sell. Kind of like Autotrader, but for new vehicles and research.

    Conquest Email Services - Exposed?

Thanks for explaining your program Chris, you're the first to do so, and that says a lot! Looks solid too. On the quote above, my guess is this is why website traffic appears to be coming from random geographic areas around the USA?

    Conquest Email Services - Exposed?

I'm starting to feel that ALL outside email marketing is not worth the uncertainty of it all. The is it real or fake challenge is getting exhausting. That is unless I hear a rebuttal from ANY email vendors defending their business and practices that makes sense... <crickets>

    Conquest Email Services - Exposed?

Any follow-up on this issue? I heard the original survey done by a shopper to get their email permission originates from that server is was completed on for opt in/out purposes, the reason the traffic looks like it's all over the USA and appears fake. Also I see @brianpasch videos have been...

    Conquest Email Services - Exposed?

@Christian Ziegler thanks for explaining your situation. Keep us posted on what you find out. It would be nice to get some feedback and explanations from some actual vendors who are running these email campaigns. Where are you? I have a few dealers which run these email campaigns with some...

    Metric chasing absurdity

I know, it's funny. You gotta love this business though, when we get more excited about metrics than actually selling cars. We're fishing for buyers online, not hunting. The bait is our new and used inventory, vehicle merchandising is a big factor. You can't force shoppers into a process to get...

    Conquest Email Services - Exposed?

Dave do you own or work for a similar email service that does this? I'd like to hear your response, especially on the website traffic sources, and on the sales match report for the campaigns. Or from any vendor that does a similar email service.

Google Adwords Deep Linking VDPs In-House

This can be done with a inventory data feed, and some creative formulas in excel. Also depends on your website URL patterns which can be programmed to spit out the VDP URL. Some websites are easier than others here. I've done this before many years ago (2009) for both new & used, I was more...

Beepi and Vroom and Carvana - will they make a DENT?

 This is all good stuff, great insights, opinions. On the original question... sites like Beepi and Vroom are inspiring for me, I like their approaches to merchandising their inventory, simplicity of the site design and function. It makes me re-think things about how we do things now...

    HayStak thoughts

Hey Kyle, Haystak uses a reverse proxy to track clicks, calls, and forms on your website. Usually they'll use *.calls.net in the PPC ad urls, looks like they have with your site too: http://billestes.calls.net/ That's the reason you are seeing differences in your reporting vs. theirs...

Why as a dealer do I need a mobile app?

Same here. Problem is this industry is too competitive, plus who ultimately profits? If the majority of franchise dealers just pooled their inventory feeds alone we could have the foundation of a very worthwhile shopping portal. That could have happened in the late 90's before any of the other...

    Interesting YELP strategy ;)

That's brilliant. Seriously we should all do that, they would never get removed, only 4-5 star yelp ratings do. On another note, I have been waiting for somebody to point their finger at the yelp mis-justice - thanks South Park! And then this fake $10m lawsuit, yelp vs. south park, just...
