Why do online auctions get to play God?

Why are we letting auctions dictate the outcome of a transaction? Who are they to play judge jury and executioner? Especially in the new age of online only. A buyer is guilty of nothing in these transactions! Yet here we are in 2025 still getting screwed over by the auctions backing the big sellers. It's a sad state affairs in this industry.
