Who's NOT an SEO expert these days?!? Yes, that's a rhetorical question.

This week we received 3 requests from 3rd party companies to upload "SEO code" to our dealers' websites. All three of these companies had no mention of SEO on their list of services a year ago, nor is SEO a core-competency of any of these companies. Two of them were chat companies and the 3rd was an "Account Executive" (a salesperson - not "SEO Strategist" or "SEO Director") from let's just say - a large yellow directory.

All three requests were simple instructions to swap out our existing Page Titles, and META info. That's it. No collaboration with us on a keyword strategy, no content to upload, no request to access Google Webmaster Tools, no communication other than just "here, put this stuff in there". Two of these requests were filled with what we would consider keyword SPAM with 50+ keywords stuffed into the META description of the homepage.

Dealers, please. Just because a company claims they offer SEO services, doesn't mean you should listen to them...let alone give them your money. Website platforms these days have progressed...many received awards for SEO architecture and services (including us). I've said this for years...the best company to implement a sound SEO strategy on your website is the company who built and has access to that website.

If a dealer is too lazy to contribute to their own SEO they deserve to be paying through the nose for crap that doesn't work. In today's age of instant information it would take no more then 2 hrs for a dealer to google around and find some SEO strategies that make sense and put in place a manageable plan.

To those that don't, your lunch is in the open, and it will be eaten.
