Has anyone noticed the complete change in the way Chrome Data decodes 2014 vehicles options?

There are options that don't match the verbiage from the manufacturer's original new car window sticker, some options don't read correctly, some options read like this: "w/Silver Accents w/Locks". What the heck? or "w/MP3 Player....." or "w/Painted Accents". Why would a vehicle option start with a "w/"? It seems like Chrome imported the vehicle options into an excel spreadsheet and excel separated one long option into two shorter options.

For example, the "w/Silver Accents w/Locks" might have read "18 Inch Aluminum Wheels w/Silver Accents w/Locks" or "AM/FM Radio with CD Player w/MP3 Player....." or "Wheels: 17 Inch Aluminum w/Painted Accents".

The real problem is when these crazy options are exported to different websites that alphabetize the vehicle options like many websites do, then the "w/" options all collect at the bottom of the vehicle option list and nobody knows what they relate to. Like these options taken from a Dealer.com website:

  • w/Driver Selectable Mode Tiptronic S Sequential Shift Control w/Steering Wheel Controls and Oil Cooler
  • w/Locks
  • w/Seek-Scan Compatible Remote CD Clock Speed Compensated Volume Control Aux Audio Input Jack Steering Wheel Controls and External Memory Control

"w/Locks" means what? Locks on the Wheels? Locks on the glove box, center console, and rear compartment? Locks on the doors? or what?

The changes at Chrome seem like they are across all Manufacturer's and Chrome Data does a lot of decoding for websites such as Cobalt. Someone at Chrome Data needs to explain why the change and how this benefits the end user, the online shopper. It seems like it raises more questions and confuses.

Thanks.

This happens every year at about the same time as the new year model arrives. But this is the first I've seen or heard about 'W/...". Sounds like there could be some manual entries happening until the manufactures release more of the vehicle data. It usually takes a month before more/detailed data be comes available.

Maybe someone from Chromedata or AutoData Solutions will chime on and offer up a better explanation.
