Competing against cash for clunkers record sales

We have hit the mid month and curious how every one is doing this month ?

We did not expect to hit clunker sales numbers but the month of July has been steady and we are on target to hit our goals. We may set a new record in internet sales.

How's every one else doing ?

4 more days of selling and we've had a pretty decent month so far.

We sold 256 new cars during July cash 4 clunker month and we should end with close to 185 new cars. Maybe more if we have a Saturday like this past Saturday.Used cars have been a little off this month.

Any one else wish to report ?

All in all July was a good month for the automotive industry. However, Cash for clunkers started in late July of 2009 and went full strength in August. So we'll see. Here is part of the report from autonews.

"Total industry sales advanced 5 percent from a year earlier for the smallest monthly increase since January. The seasonally adjusted annual selling rate was 11.55 million, the year's third highest.

Some analysts had projected July would be the strongest month since last August, when the federal government's cash-for-clunkers incentive lifted the industry from its worst slump in almost 30 years.

Demand cooled during the second half of last month after a sharp gain in retail sales at the start of July, J.D. Power and Associates said today.

“Softening of sales as July progressed indicates some vulnerability in the market, likely brought on by the lack of escalating incentive levels,” said Jeff Schuster, Power's executive director of global forecasting."
