You must exude passion for search engine marketing, be an inspirational leader of an in-house team of analysts, and contribute expertise to a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Marketing & Sales Professionals, and Developers. Responsibilities: The SEO Manager is a dynamic & visionary leader who is an expert in the SEO field. The SEO Manager is focused on the fulfillment of company objectives related to SEO products and services, and can ascertain and manage scalability for an expanding account base. The Manager will identify opportunities for modifications to or expansion of offerings based on competitive research, industry data and trends, key performance metrics of current campaigns, and the like. The Manager is responsible for effectively and efficiently overseeing the daily activities of the SEO Department and personnel, specifically in terms of performance and customer focus. The Manager is expected to explore collaborative methods with relevant department leaders to develop recommendations and respond to problems that impact SEO results and reputation on both a campaign level as well as on a more global level.

Essential Functions:
Operational:

1. Manage all SEO Dept. employees, including overall responsibility for recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation, and compensation; hold staff accountable for the work day, work load, job implementation/execution and professional conduct.

2. Lead the implementation of SEO projects to ensure uniformity and best practices are adopted and facilitate the scalability of SEO services.

3. Recognize the training and resource needs of individuals and the department and coordinate opportunities to expand knowledge and practice of products and skills that balance efficiency with quality.

4. Identify and implement process improvements necessary for interdepartmental workflow.

5. Mediate escalated issues involving internal and external customers and ensure team members demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

6. Build and maintain a positive department atmosphere by modeling a commitment to working smartly, performing responsibilities with consistency, achieving tangible results, and conducting interactions with integrity.

Strategic:

7. Actively contribute to sustainability of Dealer.com’s position as a thought leader on automotive SEO and advise cross functional team of Product managers, Marketing & Sales professionals, and Developers on strategies to enhance site architecture as well as generate ideas for managed SEO services, products and tools.

8. Define appropriate Key Performance Indicators to ensure SEO strategy is meeting its goal and lead team on successful execution.

9. Translate customer marketing goals into recommendations and comprehensive strategies for Dealer.com vertical markets.

10. Demonstrate SEO expertise through preparation and delivery of professional and engaging SEO presentations for a range of audiences including prospects, clients, third parties and others.

11. Stay abreast of new developments and changes in organic search and actively research, test and propose new approaches to improving SEO rankings and results for Dealer.com accounts, incorporating exploration of complementary social media and paid search strategies.

Qualifications: Education and Work Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, English, Business, IT or a related field is required, but 5 or more years of relevant work experience are acceptable substitutes.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct work experience in SEO and proven track record of successful SEO campaign management and growing organic traffic using ethical techniques.
  • Minimum of 2 years of personnel management experience.
  • Search marketing and social media experience (e.g., pay per click, blogging, etc.) strongly desired.
  • Automotive industry experience strongly desired.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Aptitude: advanced knowledge of internet applications and protocols (web browsers, email, http, ftp). Knowledge of web display languages (html, CSS) and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). In depth understanding of search engines and search engine optimization techniques, and principles for sound SEO design. Knowledge of development techniques and databases desired but not required (asp, xml, JavaScript, php, esl, SQL).
  • Communication: excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate articulately both verbally and in writing, and translate complex subjects for a diverse audience and all levels of management; positive customer service experience, including negotiation, managing difficult situations and difficult people
  • Organization: Strong time management and project management skills, above average ability to multi-task proactively and prioritize in response to issues as they issue; proven methods to manage self and others, including delegation; adept at problem-solving
  • Professional Integrity: Ability to employ a high degree of discretion in dealing with confidential matters; high tolerance for change and respect for dynamic entrepreneurial management philosophy; can overcome resistance (in self and others) and demonstrates an ability to compromise when needed; high degree of self-awareness and desire for continuous self improvement
