Reynolds-Fu question: Inventory as of X date?

My Reynolds-Fu is pretty strong, but this one had me a little stuck for an answer. Suppose I wanted to pull our inventory as of 12/31 today. Obviously pulling the current inventory wouldn't fly, nor would tacking on deals from 1/1 onward since both could commingle cars that arrived after the date.

Is there some elegant way of doing this in Query Builder or Report Generator, or am I in for a lot of Excel scrubbing?

I'll update this post for those that follow:

After seeing this post here, Reynolds called me (!) and basically had the whole thing going in five minutes.

If you're in Report Generator in Accounting, the file is VEHHISTORY. You select as follows:

SOLD DATE = "" OR
SOLD DATE > (prompt for date) AND
RECEIVED DATE <= (same prompt as before).

Season your output to taste.

Mind: Blown. Thanks, Reynolds!

Billfred seeks advice on pulling historical inventory data as of a specific date (12/31) without including vehicles that arrived after that date or were sold afterward. Reynolds DMS support provides the solution: use the VEHHISTORY file in Report Generator's Accounting module with filters for SOLD DATE = "" OR SOLD DATE > (specified date) AND RECEIVED DATE, which elegantly captures only vehicles that were in inventory on the target date.
