As noted -- Just in the last couple days, ComplyAuto has pulled back on some of their changes and verbiage.Honestly - we need to get congress to pass a NATIONAL LAW that preempts all state laws. American Data Privacy and Protection Act (ADDPA) was close == but it took the wrong approach. Imposing heavier regulations in some states, duplicating enforcement between state and federal agencies, and exposing small businesses to lawsuits and fines. And, California (the single hold out) wanted a no-preempt clause, meaning any state could write harsher laws that would trump the national laws, which would allow the lawsuit like the one in New Jersey. So, what was the point of a national law? << We need to try and get NADA involved, or this is going to a C.A.R.S. problem all over again where we are reacting instead of trying to drive policy.FYI -- Docusign is also getting sued under the same law -- DocuSign accused of violating California privacy actWe are only going to see more of these, like this law firm has an advertisement that takes you to Exceptions to the California Invasion of Privacy ActWe are getting to the point where our websites will require a terms of service review and consent that is 500 pages long (multiple states and laws) before the consumer is even able to view content.
