Henderson Police have arrested a man accused of keeping money meant to purchase nearly $860,000 worth of car warranties.
DriverzEdge President Robert William Roback was taken into custody Wednesday inside his business at Stephanie Street and Warm Springs Road. He faces three counts of felony theft, Henderson Police spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said.
Between August and October 2013, DriverzEdge allegedly collected payments from vehicle owners who were trying to purchase extended warranties. But the company did not not forward payments to its insurer, New York-based Assurant Service Protection. Instead, the company kept its clients money and left them without warranty coverage, Richards said.
The warranties were sold through car dealerships throughout the country.
Assurant has set up a toll-free number to help clients figure out if the policies they purchased through DriverzEdge are valid. Customers can call Assurant (866) 537-5064 to make a claim or check on the status of their policy.
