Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask dealers here a practical question:
How are you currently handling vehicle transport when it comes to auction pickups, dealer trades, and store-to-store transfers?
I speak with dealers who often run into the same issues:
Delayed auction pickups
Last-minute carrier cancellations
Poor communication from transport companies
Vehicles sitting longer than expected
Retail deals getting delayed because the unit has not arrived
No clear update after a vehicle is dispatched
For dealerships moving inventory regularly, transportation can become a small issue that creates a much bigger sales problem.
A few things that seem to help are:
Confirming the vehicle is fully released before dispatch
Checking if the unit is operable or inoperable before quoting
Using realistic pickup windows instead of the cheapest possible quote
Verifying carrier insurance before pickup
Making sure condition reports and Bill of Lading notes are handled properly
Having one point of contact for updates instead of chasing multiple people
Full disclosure: I work with Minute by Minute Logistics, a licensed auto transport broker. We help dealers with auction pickup, dealer-to-dealer transport, open transport, enclosed transport, and nationwide vehicle moves.
I am interested in learning how dealers here are currently handling transportation and what problems you are seeing most often.
For dealers who move vehicles regularly, what matters most to you?
Price
Speed
Communication
Carrier reliability
Damage prevention
Consistent lane support
Would appreciate any input from the dealer side.
