AI BDC will be all the rage.

Phase 1: Early adopters will knock it over the fence.

Phase 2: Bots are everywhere, there is a wide spectrum of AI response quality. Shoppers wont tolerate AI's masquerading as humans. Bot's genuinely helping shoppers be smarter and setting up the TOs is key. (try Carvana's Bot... we SUCK, we got work to do!)

AI BDC is not (yet) really ready, unless it’s baked into the CRM. All these bolt on systems that live outside the CRM? Hard pass.

And the quality varies SO much. Podium AI has potential. Impel AI should be taken behind the shed.

AI BDC is the biggest one for me as well. But nobody has it right yet. I'm hoping someone has a breakthrough, but I continue to feel like it won't be enough to satisfy me.

I would also like to believe some website vendor out there has an idea for how to turn the VDP into a true online shopping experience with a full-on concierge type of service. This isn't EXACTLY what I have in mind, but it's the closest I've found so far: Personal Video Shopping - Live Shopping Assistant - Valuelenz

They are both very bad, IMO. And the sad part is, I think they are the leaders in the clubhouse.

I was probably being nice about Podium. It was just so much less bad than Impel.

Built into the CRM is really the only viable option. And with drivecentric’s sale, their innovating days are dead. They were the best hope on that front.

There's was also very bad by my standars. I'm going to die on this hill: Until it's perfect, I'm out. Until I can tell it exactly what I want it to say and when, I'm out.

There is no moat around AI. Near zero barriers to entry.
Look for all the big dogs to chase the rabbit and plug in AI and think they've arrived.
The problem with vendors like Podium and Impel is that they are all just using some version of AI that already exists. None of them are doing their own innovations.
