What did you name your "Home Page"

I have discussed a few SEO things on here. One thing I see a lot is dealers name their home page "home". One of the most amazing SEO guys I know talks about this a good bit. I have personally studied this and seen great results by changing it to something relevant. Inner links are just as important. Your anchor text (text that you read that links to another page) should always read relevant. Even if it is your dealer name. Same goes for the word "inventory". Inventory is an industry term, not a term a shopper would search. New Honda's or Used Cars is much better than "Inventory".

I was just speaking with someone about this and thought....you know what....I will put this on Dealer Refresh for people because I am not sure I have ever posted this before.

Oh, because I know someone will want to go crazy....make sure your navigation reads well for users first. Use common sense.

Ryan, when you say the "name" of your homepage, are you referring to your dealer websites homepage "Title tag"?

I'll use my previous dealer and an example here. At the time I wanted to target the state of Maryland (Maryland is a small state) with the home page and used other online avenues to geo target other local areas.

The title tag was (and still is) "Maryland Mercedes Dealer: Mercedes-Benz Hagerstown MD, New Mercedes Prices, Mercedes Pre-Owned Used Cars, Auto Financing, Service"

In many sites and forums my anchor text was "Maryland Mercedes Dealer".

Are you can see it still holds...

No, actually the "anchor text". On drivemb.com you have "home" as your home page. I mean actually change that to "Drivemb" or something cleaver that is short and keyword relevant. I promise you this matters.

The "new mercedes" is perfect.
