We are hearing rumors that Matt Cutt’s, the head engineer for Google’s Webspam team, "unofficially" suggested what could be a “significant“ Google algorithm update to go into effect Friday March 15, or Monday, March 18, 2013. I wouldn’t be surprised to see many automotive websites who have been actively link building (and perhaps have lots of canned content) affected by this kind of change.

Keep a close eye on your SERPs, Webmaster tools and Analytics to see if you are affected. My advice would be, if you are going to make any major meta or content changes to your website, you might want to consider making them before Friday. Just a friendly heads up.

Justin Cook alerts the automotive industry to rumors of an imminent Google algorithm update (potentially March 15-18, 2013) that could affect websites using aggressive link building and duplicate content, recommending dealers monitor their search rankings and consider holding off on major website changes until after the update. The thread quickly devolves into humorous off-topic banter between other users, with the only substantive follow-up being a link to a Search Engine Land article about Google's Penguin and Panda updates.
