DealerAuthority Why Dealerships Who Pay for SEO Services are More Satisfied

Nice article! Thank you! I like it.

And that's why you've resurrected an old thread, right? On the other hand - thank you. Now I can read it too. BTW, there is a thing about SEO I don't quite understand. Backlinks. I'm not an SEO specialist, I'm just a site owner. Of course, when I started my site, there was a guy who helped me with SEO part. Not so long ago I called him and asked an advice about what to do next. He told me that I need organic linkbuilding service for off page SEO and even told me where to search for it. But I still don't understand, how does it work.

One variable that's often overlooked is the fact that car dealers are local brick-n-morter businesses, yet optimizing for inventory/keywords that are not only national but also international. This can bring about a substantial increase in web traffic (agencies tout the amazing job they're doing - increasing the dealers unique website traffic) yet often the larger portion of that traffic is NOT geo-relevant.

How are dealers taking this into account when measuring their SEO performance?
That's a good point Jeff! I've made the blogging / SEO my side project for the last 6 months. I'm still learning the ins and outs. However, I've got quite excited when a certain post "ranks" and the traffic starts flowing.

Then I say to myself.... "we didn't actually sell any more Denali's this month". It's definitely a marathon not a sprint.

This is so true, our traffic & bounce rate climb every time we get linked to from industry blogs - Torque News sends us a LOT of traffic, yet is isn't necessarily building our sales volume. Still good to rank, for when those local shoppers are searching though.

I disagree with the entire premise of this thread. If a dealership is paying for bad SEO services and there are plenty of bad SEO services than they are not satisfied, they are just stupid. The key is measuring organic sales attribution, how many time we gonna' sit around here chatting about the same shit. Meh...

Just because your site ranks for some random keywords doesn’t always mean that you’re going well in terms of SEO.

If you want to measure the success of your SEO investment, you need to enable organic keyword conversions tracking. It helps you figure out how people find your site and which organic search queries are driving conversions and ultimately sales.

Chump ass SEOs will NEVER deliver those results, it holds their weak ass services to the flame. So, dealers take your SEOs to task.

100% agree that random key word ranking is useless.

However, if you can rank for relevant terms for your inventory & dealership for local inquiries, there is a chance that non-local inquiries will also cause that content to appear in search. Depending on how high level the content is (our TN links mentioned previously are to content speaking on a specific feature available on select Subaru models), it will be relevant to a wide audience, as well as local consumers.

I've already had to explain to the person in charge of our SEO, to get them to stop focusing on trying to get backlinks from national publication websites, when there are plenty of local sites that would do much better for us, in the near & long-term.
