Thoma Bravo to acquire J.D. POWER

I don't know anything about Thoma Bravo, but JD Power hasn't amassed to anything more than some reward masturbation for OEMs in the consumer world. They tried to be an inventory portal at one point. A nationally syndicated automotive writer is a good friend of mine and we constantly joke about how many consumers make car-buying decisions because of JD Power awards.

They do provide significant data to the car manufacturers that seem to be of great value. Their audience is the OEM and that's not a world many of us are deep into.

Thoma Bravo's acquisition of J.D. Power is discussed, with one commenter noting that while J.D. Power's consumer-facing awards have limited influence on actual car-buying decisions, the company provides valuable data analytics to OEMs, making it primarily a B2B business rather than a consumer-facing brand. The thread highlights that J.D. Power's real value lies in serving manufacturers rather than dealers or the general public, and questions whether the acquisition represents meaningful consolidation in automotive software and data services.
