Question:
I purchsed a GL/guarateed car 1.5 years ago from Manheim (Shift). It sat over ayear and I ended up selling it to a family friend a few months ago through a local retail dealer. I'm wholesale only.

That friend just took the car to carMax to see what they will give him. They told him the car was re-welded and had frame damage. Basicaly salvaged that was fixed w/o insurance.

The car had less them 1k miles put on it since I bought. Is Shift liable in any way for selling me a Salvaged car even if been roughly 18 months ago?

I took a loss on the car when i sold it, now I have to buy the car back. I'm I stuck with it?

I paid 11,500 18 months ago. CarMax offered 4,500.

Thank you,
Mike

✨ AI Highlights

Mike purchased a "green light" (guaranteed) vehicle from Manheim/Shift 18 months ago for $11,500, which he later sold to a friend; CarMax recently discovered the car had frame damage and was re-welded without insurance documentation, making it essentially salvaged. He's asking whether Shift is liable for selling him a damaged vehicle and whether he's responsible for buying it back, given the significant loss in value ($4,500 CarMax offer). The thread is just beginning, with one reply suggesting he contact Shift directly about the issue.
