August 2010 Sales - How's it goin ?

August is normally a great month in the automotive world. However, this August of 2010 has been a tough month. Our internet business has been strong, so I am happy about that. But stores sales are sluggish.

How's every one doing ? Same thing ?

My Nissan dealer is rocking it. Was just recognized for their quick turnaround in sales and service over the last 5 months. It's been a strong month.

My MB dealer is going to have the best month they have had on almost 2 years.

Toyota - the jury is still out.

Our business is way down. August is "all hands on deck" at our dealership, and has been the strongest month in sales for at least the last 5-10 years. We are going to have our worst August ever this year. Of course, it doesn't help that our competition is pricing us out of the game at this point...

It's a whore market out there. My month was ok....I'll survive but there's a good 3 or 4 deals I could have had this month that were so whored out by the competition its just not even funny.

Ah...new cars pretty soft. Ran out of the strong sellers and it hurt. Used cars about the same as always.

The Suburban Collection, which is primarily based in Michigan, had a great August. I think the Detroit market, which was the first to tank, might be the first to come back. Our August 2010 beat August 2009.

Well it's only my second month in business but we hit our unit goal +1. Need to get grosses up and work on inventory turn, all in due time. Just gotta keep focused and plug away in September!
