Rankings are important.
But rankings alone don't generate leads.

Visibility for inventory, lease, financing, service, and local-intent searches is often what drives business results.
The goal isn't traffic.
The goal is appointments, leads, and sales.

My website Gengras Ford is ranking #1 for most keywords like ford dealers in ct, ford dealership, connecticut. Still traffic is very low. After AI visibility everything changes, no one bother to click.

Good point.

It feels like we're reaching a stage where visibility and rankings aren't always the same thing.

What's becoming more important is understanding which searches are generating leads, appointments, and sales versus simply generating impressions.

✨ AI Highlights

Dealers discuss how ranking #1 in search results no longer guarantees strong traffic or leads, with one Ford dealer in Connecticut reporting low clicks despite top rankings. The thread zeroes in on AI-driven search as the culprit, suggesting that traditional SEO metrics like rankings and impressions are becoming decoupled from actual business outcomes such as appointments and sales. The emerging consensus is that brand mentions and conversion-focused visibility matter more than raw rankings.
