VW, Audi, Porsche, Scout to Adopt Tesla Charging Standard

Volkswagen Group has announced an agreement that will give VW, Audi and Porsche electric vehicles access to Tesla’s Supercharger network. This leaves Stellantis as the lone automaker yet to sign a similar deal with Tesla. Like the agreements Tesla has reached with automakers from GM to Lucid, the VW Group arrangement will have the company fitting its EVs with Tesla’s North American Charging Standard ports starting in 2025.

White House backs industry effort to standardize Tesla’s EV charging plugs

The White House is lending its support to an auto industry effort to standardize Tesla’s electric vehicle charging plugs for all EVs in the United States, part of a broad effort to stimulate their sales to help combat climate change.

The new standard “ensures that any vehicle or charging equipment supplier or manufacturer will be able to use, manufacture, or deploy the connector and expands charging access for current and future EV drivers across the country,”
