I am new to the auto industry and I am trying to setup goals in Google analytics for our dealer.com sites. Anyone have any idea how to do this or what event actions/labels I can use to setup the goals?
Copy and paste this into your browser (make sure you're authenticated into the correct GA account). It will definitely get you on your way, you will have to edit some of the goals for the specific Dealer.com site.
Creating Custom Events provides the best data on conversion and goal measurement. URL forwarding, such as a landing page after a user submits a form will not give you "true" numbers since our data shows approx.20-30% will end their session before hitting a landing page.
for @GerryFoster Let me see if I can get my hands on those templates, it will make your life a lot easier, your agency probably screwed you up in the first place.
I'm curious. Do you guys know of anyone that has simply gone into GA and just created a dashboard thats geared towards automotive. Maybe have diff dashboards for the top 5 or 6 diff website providers or something? Would be nice to have. All you would have to do is import the dashboard and boom... Here's your data already laid out for you.

I had mentioned something as such a while back, maybe that was in ADM. I can't remember.
Yes, it would be useful, but Google themselves aren't going to do it. There are galleries for Goals, Custom Channel Groups, Attribution Models, etc. so why not for a complete set up for automotive against the top auto website platforms and their website dB schema? I was bitching about the lack of automotive web platform goal templates a while back too.
