Dealers are very interested in the Google Cars program, and honestly we have been getting very little new information since Michael Rose presented at the 2013 Digital Marketing Strategies Conference (DMSC) in February.

The word on the street is that Phoenix Arizona is the next city where the Google Cars Beta will be running.

In the coming months a new group of dealers will be experiencing this new advertising program offered by Google. The first set of dealers in the Beta were from the San Francisco Bay area. According to articles published on AutoNews.com, the reactions from dealers has been mixed.

Since my last direct update in February, there has been growing concern that Google is not staffed sufficiently to make the Google Cars program really work in scale, across the nation.

This concern is based off experience with other dealer facing products that impact car dealers, like Google+ Local (formerly known as Google Places).

Although the support teams for this program are completely separate from other Google services, the bigger question is whether Google has the experience to build a robust B-to-B consumer service team that will give dealers the support they need. Companies like Autotrader.com, Cars.com, and Cobalt.com could be great mentors in this expansion, if they were inclined to help. Cobalt is Google #1 Adwords partner by revenue.

Do you think that Google will be able to put together the service organization they need to offer online, VIN based advertising and lead generation solutions for car dealers?
