I worked at a dealership plugin company for 3+ years and one thing that always bugged me was how scattered government vehicle data is. NHTSA has specs, safety ratings, recalls, complaints, investigations. EPA has fuel economy and emissions. Department of Energy has EV charger locations.... Many different APIs, even more different formats, none of them connected.
So I built website that connects all of it. You enter a VIN and get everything on one page: full specs, safety ratings, fuel economy, emissions scores, cost of ownership, recalls, complaints, active investigations. For EVs it pulls in range and nearby chargers too.
Free, no signup. Here's a sample decode: 2022 HYUNDAI Ioniq 5 SE — VIN Decode Report
I used Claude and Cursor. Curious what you guys think. Anything missing that would make it more practical on the lot?
