Google's NEW Local Search Directory Google Places - Portland

Hang on to your hats. Google wants it all!
This doesn't scare me as a dealer--reputation processes are pretty adaptable (after all, we adapted to the status quo). If I were working for DealerRater though, I'd be more concerned--the 800-pound gorilla has slipped out of its habitat and is running around the zoo.*

*Protip: If you're keeping gorillas, watch out for low-hanging bamboo. That's how one escaped and ran around the zoo here for a bit. The food service guy that got a black eye from the gorilla has one heck of a story to tell the grandkids...

✨ AI Highlights

Joe Pistell curates resources on local SEO best practices for automotive dealers, sharing links to GetListed.org seminars, David Mihm's local search ranking factors guides, and Google Places optimization strategies. The thread emphasizes that dealers need to actively learn and manage local search marketing or hire experts, as Google's expanding local search capabilities represent both an opportunity and a competitive necessity. Billfred adds perspective that while Google's dominance in local search may disrupt third-party review platforms, dealers' reputation management processes are adaptable enough to survive this shift.
