Hello all,

A dealer I work with is looking to come up with a video promotion for their website / facebook / email marketing etc; They have all the editing expertise but wanted to know where they could get stock video footage of their current model line-up. I told them to see if the manufacturer would provide this as they have access to logos and pictures for advertising.

Any input would be great. This is a Canadian dealer but I'm sure there will not be very much difference.

Thanks,

This is a great question. The manufacturer usually has I an unbelievable amount of content. You just need to know where to look for it and sometimes build the connections to get access to it.

Be sure to check out your manufacturers intranet websites.

Also, many times each manufacture has a designated website for Press and PR. It's not always easy to gain access to these sites but many times thry have a huge amount of content.

Also, don't limit yourself to the USA and .com sites. Be sure to visit the international sites for content a well. Of course be sure the model and trims match if you are going to use video.

Thanks Jeff! The dealer has contacted their GM rep and we are just waiting to hear back on what their option are from the manufacturer. I will be sure to post the finished product as I will be involved on the creative side.

If we're talking GM, the place you really want to bookmark is gmassetcentral.com; accounts are free (provided, of course, you know your BAC code). Not always the easiest to navigate, but it's the place to go for all the images and footage available.

I thought I would share my findings on this topic. My good friend who I am assisting on this project (he is dp) contacted his GM rep. GM Assett Central is available to any dealer and has all kinds of marketing goodies (I haven't seen yet).

The only problem is the dealer has never heard of it and has doesn't know how to login or find his password. We are waiting on the magical key to the vault and then we can dig in full force.

This raises the question "How many dealers even know the have these resources??? Do they realize they could be using them on their webiste, social media, video????".

I always here dealers crying that they do not have a "graphics" guy or a "web" guy. With these resources and some basic computer skills they could hire a 16 year old highschool student to do some design work for them.

Keep you posted on end result with this custom video!!!

My dealer was able to get an accoun wit Asset Central. There seems to be lots of stock images etc; but found 0 videos???

Is there somewhere I'm not looking within the site??

Cheers
