For the 1st time ever, had the opportunity to sit on the OTHER side of the phone.

I spent about three hours with the Dealer.com support team today. You know, those guys and gals on the other end of the 800-number we call to bitch and scream and expect to fix all of our problems with the wave of their magic wands.

Secret: they really do have magic wands!! haha... Listening to the call and watching these folks navigating through ooodles of data on multiple screens at the speed of light... wow. Looked like magic to me.

If you ever get the opportunity, I would highly recommend taking the time to get an idea of what the other shoe feels like. Fascinating!

Have you hugged your support person today?? :)

Ive never been on the side of the vendor (until recently) but after having the privilege to visit many vendors, I try to have a better understanding of what they have to go through. Especially dealing with some people/dealers in our industry that are truly clueless. I'm not sure I would have the patience for it.

You can ask each one of my vendors - I have a great relationship with (almost) each and every one of them. I really go out of my way to build a relationship with my vendors. The ones that I can't build a relationship with, they usually find their way out the door.

John, when are you going to change this: Occupation: In Transition, Company Name or Dealer Name: Recently Resigned from MotorWorld Automotive Group, Inc.? You still holding your options open?

I'm talking to a dealer group that uses your product. We might see how effective the magic wand is.

Ok John,

If you get over to see my supermen that deal with we cheep-o Chrysler OEM site folks in tier 1 support...mention "Kelly from OCJ" and see what happens! I know I confound them and ask many question...but...I'm probably the happiest person they talk to every day (well any day I call)!

I'm with Jeff, I have, in a short time, built great relationships with (almost) all of my vendors (well the limited amount we have). As I've said before-if they're not in my boat...they probably need a bucket or life vest (CIMA and Cars.com take note).
Alex...what are secrets between friends? :lmao:

As soon as I stop saying "We" when referring to DealerWorld. :)
