I'm looking to get my dealers license, however to get my feet wet, am considering partnering with a licensed dealer. He wants fees per sale and monthly fee for use of dealer plate, as well as initial deposit. Is this a common practice and what numbers a reasonable as far as monthly fee and fee per sale? Any help would be great.

It isn't common because it is illegal in most states.
No offense to you, but there is not way I would let someone operate on my dealer license. Your mistakes immediately become my problems.
My advice to you is either get your license, or just go to work for the guy until you can get a license.
