I love PORN!

I think the biggest benefit was with the search engines. I can remember playing Medal of Honor when it first came out, and searching for "Medal of Honor game tips" and getting a site with that title, but when I selected it, it was hard-core porn. On one hand it appeared funny, on the other hand, it scared the hell out of me. What if my kids were searching innocently for the same term? A lot of what the search engines have done to ensure you get relevant results for your queries is a result of countering many of the porn site tactics of keyword stuffing, untrue metatags, etc... The good news is that I have not run into something like that experience for many years now...

Did that thread title get your attention?

We have a lot to be thankful for from the porn industry: Eight Ways Porn Changed the Internet - IT Management

Don't worry, it is work and family safe ;)

I think you could find something more tasteful to post, Porn has done nothing positive for this world, but caused pain and suffering. I am surprised as a leader of this blog that you would bring anything to do with Porn into an automotive blog, and I hope you find something positive to focus on. I am very disappointed.

Shereef,

Your reported post came through last night while Jeff and I were having a few drinks during his vacation down in my neck of the woods. We were a little shocked to see it then, and now that I'm reading this I'm very shocked again.

Buddy - you are taking this thing WAAAAAAY out of context. Your paycheck is heavily based on the pioneering of the Porn and Computer Gaming industry - what made instant chat so popular? So, if you're going to play the right-wing close-minded idiot, be my guest. But if you decide to open your mind a little and think things through a little deeper, you may just recognize the point to this thread.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

It’s interesting that you resort to name calling when someone doesn’t share your views of what is appropriate or professional. I’m sure there are many others out there that would agree with my post. Not everyone shares your views, and it doesn’t make them “right-wing, close-minded, or an idiot”. Everyone has their own opinion, and I am entitled to mine. I was shocked when I saw ( I love PORN!) on this blog. I think it is a sick way for you to try and get attention. I am happy I reported it, and I am surprised it hasn’t been removed yet!

I would be very upset if everyone shared my views - this would be a terrible world of monotony and agreement. Conflict and arguments define us - we need them. However, the people who sit on the far-far right (or far-far left) typically deal in absolutes and cannot be argued with. They are completely close-minded and typically work toward the destruction of the other side. You've got to weed those people out early ;)

Having a strong opinion on one issue doesn't make you part of the far-far right, and doesn't make you an idiot. Again, you took another of my posts out of context. I wasn't directly calling you a name - just the stance you were taking. But tones of voices don't come off too well in type.

So, let's look at what I originally posted under the title of "I love Porn". This was from an IT Developer website taking a look at what technologies were pioneered by the Porn industry. These are things I use everyday to make money and I have a feeling quite a few other people here do too. So my title was used to get a laugh and a look while saying "I love Porn for the technologies it has helped us pioneer". My feelings for the content Porn is based around will remain my own. But I cannot deny they paved the way for a lot of the technologies we enjoy online today beyond the sexual part.

If you can't acknowledge that, then you deal in absolutes, and cannot be reasoned with.

The choice I have made is to not acknowledge or give credit to the worst industry on the planet, or relate it to how I make my living in any way. It has to do with my core values and what I have learned in life. I think you made a poor comparison choice in my opinion, and we can leave it at that. I'm sure it will get some attention, but there are many other positive comparisons we can learn from/discuss without having to start at the bottom to do so. I guess you could say I chose to be closed minded when it comes to giving any credit to people pushing smut.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the credit for bringing about a more efficient method of transferring data faster than we may otherwise have seen is largely because of the fact that we are a voyeuristic animal and that we love to play games with one another (the word "game" being used in a general sense, not specifically video-games). People can be driven to do great things by very basic desires. Certainly the things we take for granted now in terms of the internet were largely if not majorly driven by these two basic human wants.

I don't believe that's the same as saying "Thank you, Porn Industry, for giving us high-speed internet" which is what, and again correct me if I'm wrong, Shereef is interpreting Alex as saying...
