Favorite Non Auto Technology/Software?

@Alexander Lau Thanks for the tip about Needtagger. It appears they have enough business for now according to their website. View attachment 2823
Oh, you're welcome Bill and we connect again, via different platform.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. I don't buy that they aren't taking new customers per se. It's probaby Twitter limiting their ability to access their API. There are probably search limits or NeedTagger doesn't want to pay for the license upgrade.

How could I forget ClickTale.

And yes, this is what completely sucks about Google Analytics (at least the free version), it doesn't have either of those options above.

Google Analytics (GA) provides traditional analytics and focus on measuring key metrics, such as new users, OS being used, drop off rates, geographic breakdown and more.

GA and other traditional analytics tools won't tell the the full story, since they emphasize the numbers instead of the reasons. So, you'll understand the 'what' and not the 'why'. For example, you may detect that you have a low user retention, but you won't understand why users are not returning to use your app or website.

In order to understand the 'why', you have to deep-dive into the user behavior by utilizing an user experience analytics solution.

Such a solution provides unique features, including touch heatmaps, user recordings and UI analysis reports.

While at NADA I had a few meetings and I got to see behind the curtain on human tracking, geofencing, IP address to real address association and how that data is being shared and sold between vendors. It's incredible. It's also incredibly scary. These guys know all your devices, all your shopping habits, where you live, where you work, what you drive and when you leave each location each day. They sell that data to other companies who are using it to target you with specific ads. I haven't seen a great example of someone using it in Automotive or general Marketing yet, but I've seen the potential.

As for iBeacons, the biggest hurdle is that the functionality is turned off by default on most phones and it requires an App. Works great for someone like AutoTrader with 100s of 1000s of app installations, but for your dealership you can't just toss popups and tracking onto their phone unless you're part of one of the massive beacon networks.

Yes, you're right and there's no stopping it now, so you might as well use it to sell.

There are ways around it, but it's expensive with the iBeacon issue. It's just the tip of the iceberg. I've already stated that no one in automotive is using biometric technology very well. Walk into a dealer, we know who you are and there is plenty of hardware and software to get the job done.
