Autotrader bought Xtime

Is there a DMS worth buying?

Yeah, I think there are some very credible solutions out there like AutoSoft, DealerBuilt, and quite a few more. There are also some ERP softwares that can be converted although I would personally run from a project like that.

Keith Jezek is a sharp dude! I bet he has a good strategy for how they walk the DMS path. Autotrader was smart to let their vAuto acquisition take over so much of their technology.

Forum members discuss Cox Automotive's $325 million acquisition of Xtime, a service software platform, debating whether it represents a smart consolidation strategy or a concerning monopoly. While opinions are mixed—with some praising Cox's vision to integrate multiple automotive solutions and others skeptical of combining two "terrible" companies—the consensus leans toward Cox Automotive strategically positioning itself to eventually acquire or build a DMS (Dealer Management System) to complete their comprehensive software ecosystem. The key insight is that Cox is methodically assembling an end-to-end solution for dealerships rather than developing products organically.
