So the question here is
Is it better to have a video testimonial on a dealer's website vs text testimonial

We all know from an SEO perspective, text is better, but what about user experience on the website

Do any of the vendors or dealers in this forum have any stats on this?

Not a great answer, but a few of my clients have 2 pages: Testimonials and Customer Reviews.
Testimonials is copy/pasted from emails, etc.
Customer Reviews is branded and uses the DealerRater API to show DR reviews.

The Customer Reviews page is a similar length, but gets 4-6x longer page views (reading time) and far less back button bounces.
The copy/pasted testimonials never seem to have the validity required to keep a visitors attention.
Haven't tried videos more than once, but the time we did they got like 10-25 views a piece.

✨ AI Highlights

A dealer asks whether video or text testimonials perform better on dealership websites, balancing SEO benefits against user experience. One vendor shares data showing that branded customer reviews (pulled from DealerRater API) generate 4-6x longer page views and lower bounce rates compared to plain text testimonials, while video testimonials garnered minimal views (10-25 each). The consensus suggests that third-party reviews from established platforms may outperform self-generated testimonials in terms of visitor engagement and credibility.
