"It will be a scary show" is what Alex told me about hosting Tom Kline when he proposed we have him on. He also said, "although it will be tough to hear, it will be good to hear these things too. A little like that HR training we all went through, but this might cut deeper."

Tom Kline handled the lawsuits and complaints of employees and customers at the number 1 Chevrolet dealership in the United States until the day his family sold it. That store was right down the street from Alex Snyder's family's dealerships, so Alex knows how strong Tom's message is.

Tom started Better Vantage Point to help dealers manage their compliance, risk, and disputes. With how quickly the world is moving it is time to take your temperature on how you're doing there. This is not just for car dealers - vendors should listen too.

:iagree: Jeff. BIG THANKS to @tomkline for sharing his knowledge with us today. It was scary AF, but definitely stuff we needed to hear.

He schooled us on:
  • what Payment Packing/Product Stuffing really is
  • how your dealership website is a liability
  • how your digital retailing and in-store processes are a potential liability
  • how to think about insurance for the dealership
And holy fuuuuuuuuuuu... was it :yikes:

I thought I knew a lot of this stuff, but I wasn't connecting some of these dots before. This might be the most important RefreshFriday we've ever done.

Alex, Jeff,
Thanks so much for having me on the show!
Thank you for the kind comments. There's no doubt these are important topics.
I really appreciated the questions and look forward to answering any follow-up questions which listeners may have. I'm traveling most of next week so I will login periodically to respond here.
Please feel free to reach out to me at any time for any reason.
Cheers,
Tom

✨ AI Highlights

Tom Kline, a legal expert who previously managed lawsuits and compliance at the #1 Chevrolet dealership in the U.S., appeared on RefreshFriday to discuss critical legal risks facing dealerships, including payment packing, website liabilities, digital retailing vulnerabilities, and insurance considerations. The hosts describe it as one of their most important webinars, emphasizing that the discussion revealed compliance and legal exposure issues that many dealers weren't previously connecting. The key insight is that modern dealership operations—particularly digital processes and marketing practices—create significant legal vulnerabilities that require proactive management and awareness.
