GM missed a massive opportunity with CarBravo - they should have gone all-in with CarBravo and created their version of Sonic's EchoPark used car chain.

Imagine thousands of CarBravo branded used car buildings across the country. Suddenly they are competing against both Carvana AND CarMax.

Thoughts?

PS: I'm imagining this as an optional add-on franchise for existing GM dealers to elect to convert their current generic used car buildings into a CarBravo branded location. Dealers still retain control within franchise guidelines.

This model would be ripe for marketing efficiencies and create the omnichannel retail experience that consumers crave and Best Buy has perfected.

✨ AI Highlights

Ryan Everson proposes that GM squandered a strategic opportunity by not fully developing CarBravo into a nationwide used car chain comparable to Sonic's EchoPark, positioning itself as a competitive alternative to Carvana and CarMax. He envisions CarBravo as an optional franchise conversion program for existing GM dealers to rebrand their used car operations under unified guidelines, enabling significant marketing efficiencies and a cohesive omnichannel retail experience. The core insight is that GM had the brand infrastructure to dominate the used car market through dealer partnerships but failed to capitalize on it.
