Hey Guys,

As part of the Cash for Clunkers last summer, we had bought and used (as I'm sure a lot of you have) some CFC specific domain names to use as pseudo sites. Those domains are up for renewal here soon, and my obvious initial thought was that we would not need to keep them as we would most likely not use them anymore.

Before we make the decision to opt out of the auto-renew, just wanted to get everyone's take. Do you guys see any reason why we should hold on to the domains? Just want to make sure I'm not missing something, such as a potential use down the road... Thanks!

Nothing helps a domain name like longevity of ownership - keep them if you can, as well as some sort of site. Just change up the messaging a bit "Cash For Clunkers may have ended but the great deals haven't..." And deep link a few of your inventory specials.

✨ AI Highlights

A dealer asks whether to renew Cash for Clunkers domain names that are expiring, uncertain if they still have value. The consensus from experienced marketers is to keep the domains, citing three main benefits: they can be repurposed for SEO link-building, they'll provide a head start if the government repeats the program, and their age/longevity provides inherent SEO value that can be leveraged with updated messaging pointing to current inventory deals.
