Dealership Phone Systems

One of our stores has a very old partner acs phone system and we are looking to upgrade. Has anyone had any experience with NEC phone systems? To be honest I had never really heard of them. Are they a top contender? Avaya and Alcatel are really all i'm familiar with.

I work with a guy who can answer all these questions much better than I can, but it's worth noting a few things:
1. There are smaller companies that do this exceptionally well.
2. Hardware and software can come from 2 different companies

I've see a few really good setups, both using Polycom phones.
Interactive Intelligence and Asterisk I believe are the two software sides I've seen - both quite good.
I personally use a polycom phone on Interactive Intelligence every day and the system is great.

We went with Shoretel for our phones and its been great so far. We have 8 buildings over 2 locations and not many issues at all. It was also relatively cheap.
