Domain name / direct navigation strategy

For anyone interested, you can find expiring / deleting names at auctions.godaddy.com, namejet.com and less popular namesilo.com and dropcatch.com. You can research historical prices at namebio, dnjournal.

Disclaimer: lots of risk there.
Thousands of domains have been blackballed, de-listed, rank murdered, etc.
Always check domain history first.

Quick check, at google.com, type site:"domainname.com" or just "domainname.com" with the quotes. If there are no results or a warning, best to pass.

You can view historical snapshots of a domain at screenshots.com. Archive.org is also worth checking.

I've bought thousands of domains without a problem. One thing to beware of aware of is called "zero-click" monetisation. All traffic is redirected to another website. Some vendors will redirect to sites displaying a fake virus alert or some other fraud.

Keywords In TLD Part Of URL Do Not Help In Google Ranking
http://www.drivingsales.com/news/keywords-in-tld-part-of-url-do-not-help-in-google-ranking/

Will Google support my SEO efforts to move my domain from .com to a new TLD?
https://www.drivingsales.com/grant-...-seo-efforts-to-move-my-domain-com-to-new-tld

I tore up a vendor attempting to pitch new TLD sales (.cars, .auto, etc.) in him thinking that would rank higher, when it doesn't. However, I am unable to find it at DS. Their platform tends to tick me off, actually (buggy).

I'm not advocating keyword domains, Domain management is also brand management. I've found two companies using a .net and the exact .com is available, just this morning.

Here's another example, I'm obfuscating the company name so it isn't indexed.

/T /o /y /o /t /a - /t /o/w /n in London ON.

Besides customers occasionally landing on the wrong website, does email for {name}@dashed-domain.com bounce with an error? If not, who's reading it?

Suggestion, Use {company}london.com for email.

{company}london.com
Not setup with SSL so https://{company}london.com doesn't work.
Takes four 302 redirects before landing at https://www.{company}-town.com

Consider using a free SSL certificate from letsencrypt.com and and use a 301 redirect.

Why not also register {company}Ontario.com or {company}Canda.com as brand protection? Cheap at $200 to secure both names for 10 years.

Simple questions, do you find yourself repeating or spelling your email or website? How can you expect anyone to remember it?

Not really sure where you are going with all of this, but OK.

Then I'm not communicating clearly. A domain isn't just a SEM tool, it's also part of your brand.

If you're missing customers because of simple mistakes, then you're not serving your client well or following "best practices". A domain with a dash, or using .net will always leak traffic someone else can monetize.

I stated all of that early bro. LOL... all good

You've posted a video saying keyword domains matter, then and article saying keyword domains don't matter in a later post.

This is a forum thread about marketing best practices, I'm speaking from experience and asking questions. A vendor warning about the risk of buying domains with type-in traffic is also making simple mistakes with his clients domains.

Good luck.

No, I have provided examples of differing opinions (pro's and con's) and sourced them properly (and those sources are authoritative, such as Neil Patel). Don't put words into my mouth. There are differing opinions on the effectiveness of keywords in a domain name (exact domain matching, etc.). I followed up with a TLD post that shows ranking is not about the TLD and some of that evidence comes from Google itself. I measure what works, I am indifferent in terms of the protocol.
