We are. We have only sold a new one so far, though. It was pretty easy. Got our money within a few days.

That's great! How easy was it to deal with the IRS? We're still waiting to learn our status. Was the IRS timely for you?

Our only complaint is that there is some documentation that we have to send that we have to have encrypted because the IRS doesn't have a secure email account. Yes, you read that right.

May I please ask how long does it takes for your dealership to get approved on the advance payment system? I‘ve been waiting for a month now and got absolutely no communication or reply from either the secure messaging nor emails. Thanks

I apologize, I am at a different dealership now and I didn't handle all of the set up on this.

After learning that the federal government still processes all retirements using paper, by hand, with 700+ mine workers filing manila envelopes and cardboard boxes in a limestone mine hundreds of feet underground…I’m honestly just impressed the IRS even has an email account.

My sister lives in NC and bought an EV. She said between the taxes and new additional fees, it's upwards of $500 a year.

In North Carolina, EV owners must pay a standard state vehicle registration fee (around $46.25), a local county tax, and a Highway Use Tax instead of a traditional sales tax. Additionally, EV owners pay an annual surcharge of $214.50 (or $107.25 for plug-in hybrids) to offset lost gas tax revenues.


Quite shitty for States to charge extra $$ to "offset the lost tax revenue."

Incentivized to buy an EV. Then you do and states lose gas tax revenue. Who could have seen that coming?

I have a GMC Hummer EV and a Cadillac Vistiq EV. Just renewed my plates and it came out to $2,200 for the year.

Michigan bases plate renewals on the vehicle’s original MSRP, which is especially brutal with EVs since they’re generally much more expensive vehicles than comparable gas vehicles. The wild lease programs just make them feel way more affordable than the MSRP suggests.

Then our governor (D) just tacked on another ~$300 EV fee per vehicle.

And that’s not even counting all the taxes I’m already paying on the electricity to charge them, plus the higher insurance costs.

Will I buy another EV? 100%. Best vehicles I’ve ever owned.
