Through an IRS program qualifying dealers can save their customers up to $4,000 on qualifying used EVs. Are any of you enrolled in the program? What is your experience so far?
We are. We have only sold a new one so far, though. It was pretty easy. Got our money within a few days.Through an IRS program qualifying dealers can save their customers up to $4,000 on qualifying used EVs. Are any of you enrolled in the program? What is your experience so far?
That's great! How easy was it to deal with the IRS? We're still waiting to learn our status. Was the IRS timely for you?We are. We have only sold a new one so far, though. It was pretty easy. Got our money within a few days.
Our only complaint is that there is some documentation that we have to send that we have to have encrypted because the IRS doesn't have a secure email account. Yes, you read that right. That's great! May I please ask how long does it takes for your dealership to get approved on the advance payment system? I‘ve been waiting for a month now and got absolutely no communication or reply from either the secure messaging nor emails. After learning that the federal government still processes all retirements using paper, by hand, with 700+ mine workers filing manila envelopes and cardboard boxes in a limestone mine hundreds of feet underground…I’m honestly just impressed the IRS even has an email account. Our only complaint is that there is some documentation that we have to send that we have to have encrypted because the IRS doesn't have a secure email account. Dealers discuss their experiences enrolling in the IRS EV tax credit program, with early adopters reporting quick reimbursements but frustrating communication gaps and a notable quirk: the IRS lacks a secure email system, forcing dealers to encrypt sensitive documents themselves. The conversation expands into the broader financial burden on EV owners, with real examples of steep state registration fees, annual EV surcharges, and sky-high insurance costs — though one enthusiast owning a Hummer EV and Cadillac Vistiq still says EVs are the best vehicles he's ever owned.
