The Cash for clunkers law clearly states that dealers should be paid no later than 10 days after submitting claims.
I think they should pay interest. We have 3.7 million in unpaid claims, or about 10k a day interest at 5%
They should also pay penalties? Like the way the IRS requires us to Pay if we are late.

Thoughts?

✨ AI Highlights

  • A dealer expresses frustration that the government has failed to pay Cash for Clunkers program reimbursements within the legally mandated 10-day window, leaving his dealership with $3.7 million in unpaid claims, and argues the government should owe interest and penalties like the IRS imposes on late taxpayers.
  • While one commenter supports the idea, others express skepticism about holding the government accountable and one sarcastically suggests the asymmetry is unfair.
  • The thread reflects broader dealer frustration with government program execution without reaching consensus on a solution.
