Yago, did you email them or did they update that somewhere on the site?
This will severely limit spammers, lead providers, and dealers posting 7-8 times a day.
Less duplicate cars, gimmicks, and ads means easier search for customers and more site usability. The traffic remains the same and the site is much cleaner to use, the dealers left will do even better than they used to.
Pay to post limits the games people can play.
If you have 100 cars and you post them every week once this will cost you $2000 plus something like $500-1000 to manage the postings. You no longer need to post them every day or multiple times per day.
I think it is $5 per 30 days.
Craigslist has a new (overdue) revenue stream...
Wonder if Craigslist will allow "prepaid" Visa or Mastercard credit cards to be used to pay for the ads up front.
Thanks Yago, that does make a difference in the monthly cost, but not being able to renew for 30 days really seems to make it pointless. In my area alone it is 3 pages to get to yesterdays post only looking at for sale by dealer, and it is only 10:30am. Now granted if they are looking for a paticular vehicle they will search for it and you might have a chance of a few that way but I think your odds of that customer also searching one of the other 3rd party sites are pretty high.
One thing that it will do though is thin the herd, like someone else said, as a lot of dealers will drop out of this arena or only advertise there inexpensive or hard to find cars that seem to do a bit better on Craigslist.
Craigslist announced a $5 per post fee for dealer vehicle listings starting December 3rd, with ads lasting 30 days and no renewal option. Dealers discuss the impact, with most viewing it positively as a way to reduce spam and low-quality leads, though some question the ROI given the accumulated costs and manpower needed to manage postings. The consensus is that while the fee will eliminate casual spammers and excessive daily reposting, it may also reduce overall traffic and lead quality for dealers who stay on the platform.
